On April 10 and 11, Allegiant Stadium filled with fancy dresses and red silk pajamas for Bruno Mars, who played two sold out shows to kick off his “Romantic” Tour.
A steady hum of anticipation only grew louder as the lights dimmed and his first notes echoed through the crowd.
Bruno Mars has a reputation performing with high energy and making connections with his crowd. Lily Simmons ‘26 exclaims, “ The energy of the crowd was amazing. Everyone I was around was singing and dancing along, and the people I went with made it all the more fun.” Being there made everyone feel like they were a part of something bigger than themselves, connecting with random strangers and letting loose.
There are always moments in your life you will never forget and one of the moments was when Bruno slowed the tempo and played some of his best well known songs. “ Bruno Mars played “When I Was Your Man” , “Talking to the Moon”, and “It Will Rain” all while accompanying them on the piano, which I think was really cool. His versatility as a musician is amazing.” Simmons ‘26 states.
It was amazing that Bruno’s first show was in Las Vegas and he got to start his concert off with a bang. “ The show exceeded my expectations. I’ve loved Bruno Mars since I was three, so I’ve been really excited to see him in person. I’ve tried to see him for years when he had the residency and never got around to it. I was so surprised by how much of a showman he is, it was really wonderful.” Simmons ‘26 explains.
Simmons ‘26 explains, “ I think it is important for teens to go to concerts because I feel like there are so many unique aspects to art that we can find at concerts. We grow up listening to music and we get exposed to the tracks, but we never see the art being created and how there are different elements of musical artistry involved, such as playing the instruments. I feel like we get more of an appreciation of songs we love at concerts.”
Concerts are about being yourself and that’s just what Bruno let everyone in that stadium be. Get out of your comfort zone, explore new things, and live life to the fullest.
