Memory of Judy Ferguson

Earlier last month, the Bishop Gorman community lost a dedicated worker that accurately portrayed the values of the Gorman Gael charisma.

Ms. Ferguson came to the Bishop Gorman family 27 years ago and through the years worked her way to the position of Executive Assistant to the President, Mr. Kildoff. She was present within the evolutions of Bishop Gorman from changes in faculty, activities, locations, and other transitions. With this seasoned experience, she was able to deliver a sense of wisdom and provide guidance to the new incoming faculty.

Mr. Goode, who came to Gorman the same year as Ms. Ferguson, highly valued her supportive nature to instinctively lend a hand when needed. “She made sure that we were on top of everything and sometimes we would forget things but she was always there to pick us up and keep us going.” Her encouragement and dedication definitely relates to the acclaimed morals instilled in the Bishop Gorman community. “All of us, faculty, staff, students, parents work together to support each other and to be there for each other and Mrs. Ferguson was the perfect representation of that truth.”

Mrs. Divento knew Mrs. Ferguson for the past 27 years and offered insight into the type of friend, colleague, and overall person she was. During Mrs. Divento’s first year, Mrs. Ferguson ensured that she felt welcomed by answering questions, helping with tasks, and overall just showing a sense of kindness that Mrs. Divento was beyond grateful. A story that will never be forgotten by Mrs. Divento is how Mrs. Ferguson took it upon herself in solving the issue of Mrs. Divento’s colors on her faculty gown at graduation. After multiple back and forth mistakes, Mrs. Ferguson was able to settle the conflict, affirming that every part of the Bishop Gorman family was present and flawless. One funny thing that many remember about her was her odd yet adorable fascination with penguins. Mrs. Divento comments, “I can still picture her desk with her glass penguins at the old campus. They traveled to this campus as well and definitely held a special spot here too.”

Ms. Ferguson will definitely be missed by the Gorman family, but her contributions to create a more welcoming environment in the community will never be forgotten.
