Why I Like It?
Fiery and passionate, let’s dive into the world of cooking, a sorrowful English teacher, and a musician recently gaining traction.
Bears, whales, and a reformed comedian turned musician are not a combination most think of when discovering newly created media. Instead they might find themselves watching the highly praised tv show The Bear.
For the first review, let’s take a look at the dramatic-comedy, The Bear. The Bear aired June 23, 2022 on the streaming service Hulu. The story pertains to a young chef named Carmy who is played by Jeremy Allen White. It depicts his journey back to his family owned restaurant after running a Michelin Star restaurant owned by Joel Mchale. The young chef suffers from PTSD after several years of being a head chef. After the suicide of his brother, young Carmy must tackle the struggles of running a small business, soul crushing coworkers, and strained familial relationships. Now a Golden Globe winner for his passionate performance, White puts all he’s got into his role as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto. Unsurprisingly, Jeremy Allen White won the Golden Globe for the Best TV Actor in a Musical/Comedy Series. White takes his speech and dedicates it to all those who stood beside him during filming and processing of The Bear.
The actions in which the show takes so that every part can appear realistic is realistic. White, alongside his co-star Ayo Edebiri, explains how there are no hand models. This meant that each scene that includes cooking was the actors performing the culinary arts. And the inclusion of impressive long takes give the viewer time to appreciate the attention to details. However, the best part of The Bear is the connection between the cast. It truly does feel like a family struggling rather than a star studded cast.
The show has received rave reviews and the greenlight for a second season. With so many characters to expound upon, I can not wait to see what Carmy will cook up next.
