When COVID-19 hit, many girls found that their thoughts were a lot more mature than how people their age usually are. An example of girls acting more mature are them being influenced by people older than them on social media. On social media, many content creators and influencers post about their beliefs and their fans follow it.
The question is, if the pandemic was really the cause of that, or did they just get more easily influenced by others and became more mature?
“I believe my brain aged rapidly during COVID-19 because we were all forced into such a fast paced situation, and we all had to learn how to adjust easily to a lot of missed opportunities especially a year before my middle school life,” Kayden Anria Bangayan ‘27 said.
When the pandemic was over, many people felt as if they changed very quickly and became a lot more mature. Another reason for this could’ve been social media. We spent more time on social media and on our devices more than ever.
Anna Barragan ‘27 said, “we were in lockdown for so long, and we were on our phones so much that social media affected us in different ways.”
“I think that everyone’s brains have aged in some type of way. So I think that girls’ brains were definitely part of that process. I do think that all teenagers’ brains aged rapidly during the pandemic, so not just girls but all teenagers,” Barragan also stated.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic affected everyone differently, many young teenagers that went through the pandemic have found that they were more mature than how some people their age usually are.
