Bishop Gorman’s senior class came together from Sept. 2-4 in Prescott, Arizona, for a retreat dedicated to reflecting on their high school journey, preparing for life after high school, and growing in their faith with God.
Throughout the three-day retreat, students participated in small-group discussions, prayer sessions, outdoor activities, and inspirational talks led by faculty and students.
Faculty members and students gave powerful speeches about what life would be like after high school, offering students support and encouragement on their next journey. “I hope students trust in God’s plan in not only their senior year, but throughout their entire life,” Mr. Radzak said.
The retreat encouraged seniors to not only listen but also to share their own stories. These vulnerable speeches helped foster deeper connections among the group.
For some seniors, the retreat offered a rare chance to open up and be vulnerable in a supportive space, allowing students to connect on a more personal level. “My favorite moment was when I did my speech. I cried and got personal with a lot of new people, and it felt nice to open up,” said Andrea Santamaria ‘26.
Participant Mikko Mabandos ‘26 emphasized the importance of friendship, explaining how during the retreat he prioritized strengthening his connections with his close friends and those who he was less familiar with. The senior retreat led Mabandos to reflect on his senior year and life after graduation, “the beliefs, friendships, relationships, struggles and lessons that were communicated through the insightful, passionate stories and talks brought perspective on not only my senior year or the future beyond my graduation, but my life as a whole.”
On the second night, students participated in reconciliation, where candles lit the small chapel as they took time to reflect on their spiritual journey.
Hailey Pasco ‘26 said that this activity had the biggest impact on her. “Maybe it was because I was really emotional from being tired, but it truly was such a crazy experience for me. I definitely strengthened some friendships on the trip and met lots of new people.”
This retreat was more than just a pause before graduation, it was a chance for seniors to deepen their faith, build lasting friendships, and embrace the future with hope and courage.
