On March 31, Bishop Gorman’s Women’s Lacrosse team held a teacher appreciation ceremony before their game to honor their teachers for their dedication and hard work. This event served as a gesture of gratitude, allowing players to recognize the impact their teachers have had on their academic and personal growth.
At 7:00 p.m., the ceremony started, and the lacrosse team gave a brief speech to show their appreciation and how much their teachers play a key role in their lives. Each player invited a teacher of their choice, who was then introduced and presented with a sugar cookie and a thank-you message.
Honoring teachers who have made an impact on students’ lives helps strengthen the bond between teachers and students. “I chose to honor Mr. Bonar and Mrs. McCullough because they both have been significant influences in my high school experience. Both of these teachers have helped me grow and develop into the student I am today,” Drew Flaherty ‘26 said.
Teacher Appreciation Night was a special night where players took time before the big game to show appreciation to teachers who play a crucial role in the academic and athletic performance. “Teacher Appreciation Night definitely creates stronger bonds between students and teachers and creates a positive relationship outside of the classroom. Nights like these can show what school spirit looks like and inspire the students,” Flaherty said.
Many teachers on campus have supported the players throughout their lacrosse journey, helping shape them into the athletes they are today. “A teacher that had a big impact on my life in general is Mr. Gillis, he has pushed me to be my best in class and also cares to talk to me about everything going on in my lacrosse world,” Aubrey Skenandore ‘26 said.
Having this night was not only for the teachers, but also a chance for the players to bring home a victory for them. “Having this night not only meant for teachers, but for the players to take home the victory for the teachers,” Skenandore said.
