Yesterday, Bishop Gorman celebrated Ash Wednesday by welcoming Archbishop Thomas to Bishop Gorman to celebrate Mass at Holy Spirit.
Ash Wednesday is important to the Catholic faith, as it serves as a reminder that everyone came from dust, and will one, their bodies will return to dust when their souls are called to Heaven.
“Ash Wednesday means to me that it’s a time to focus on God and go back and reflect on everything I have done and to better myself for Lent,” Mya Munoz ‘26 said.
The Archbishop gave a beautiful homily on how dust is everywhere and made of everything. This serves as a good reminder that one day, when everyone inevitably is turned back to dust, they are always around, though their souls are with God.
Students came in their mass uniforms, and in order to accommodate the ceremony, students went to all eight classes for 25 minutes.
