The Bishop Gorman Lady Gaels dominated in their playoff games on February 22nd and 23rd at the Thomas and Mack Center ultimately defeating Centennial 57-53.

Aaliah Spaight ‘26 stated, “Teamwork, the game came down to who wanted it the most. In order to win that game we had to come together.”

They faced Democracy Prep for their semifinal game and were only up by two at halftime, 32-29. However, they managed to pull together as a team, which ended up with a 22 point win beating them 66-44.

Sophomore guard Aaliah Spaight had a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, accompanied by freshman Kenzee Holton’s 19 points.

With this huge win, it was Coach Krumpotich’s 500th Bishop Gorman win, she has now brought five state titles to Bishop Gorman Women’s Basketball, going back to 2006-2010; when she won four state titles in a row.

They then had to go on to face Centennial High School in the final. Centennial had won eight state titles in a row. When the Lady Gaels first faced Centennial this season back on January 20, 2024, they lost 68-57.

The Gaels had some work to do as they were losing by six, 28-22 at halftime. They managed to come together for the second half and pull off a win.

Sophomore combo guard Aaliah Spaight added huge scores on the board and finished the night with 23 points.

Aaliah Spaight ‘26 stated, “It’s something you can’t really describe, nobody expected us to win and being able to rise through the adversity is a wonderful feeling.”

Late in the fourth quarter, Addysen Carr ‘27 hit two clutch three-pointers to put the Lady Gaels back in rhythm.

The biggest win of the Lady Gaels season, coming back after losing by 11 in late January to the same team they beat for the state title.

Bishop Gorman Women’s Basketball ended their season 24-4 overall, 12-1 in league while bringing home a state championship.
