What happens at LIB stays at LIB

Seeing the same faces in the same uniform in the same class can become rather boring, yet on September 16-18 everything changes.

These fellow classmates interact on a completely different level at Life Is Beautiful (LIB) in Downtown Las Vegas, featuring popular artists, photo backgrounds, and food options in an overall unique atmosphere.

As senior Bella Anaya, an annual attendee to the festival says, “I was able to speak with many people that I generally would not talk to in any school aspect.”

Downtown Las Vegas is where all the action takes place. Everyone meets up in the square, compliments outfits, discusses plans for the night, and enjoys the social setting. However, the music is what really brings the whole festival to life. This year there were seven stages that featured different artists. The stages offer a chance for individuals with different music taste to tend to which genre they like the most. On one stage one person could be listening to “Beach House” while someone else listens to “Rico Nasty”: two completely different genres.

This year’s theme took a more indie pop approach, with artists such as Lorde, Cage The Elephant, and Arctic Monkeys.

When asked who her favorite artist was, Luci Purdy answered, “Lorde and Calvin Harris as they have been two of my favorite artists and seeing them perform right in front of me was unbelievable.”

The energy as more than 130,000 fans waits for the artists to open with the most wanted songs can only be described as electrifying.

Life Is Beautiful is constantly evolving into street art murals and interactive experiences. However, the community amongst festival goers never changes and everyone is invited to participate in the festival fun that never disappoints.
