On October 7, 2022, the Bishop Gorman Band got the special opportunity to learn from and practice with the highly recognized Notre Dame Marching Band who came into town for the greatly anticipated Notre Dame versus BYU game at Allegiant Stadium.

Gorman gave access to Fertitta Field to the Notre Dame Band as a way for them to practice for their halftime performance during the big game. In return, the BGHS Band was solicited time to learn from professionals, and highly talented individuals to improve upon their own skills.  “My favorite part of the performance would definitely have to be when they marched out to the victory song. I’ve heard it so many times but to hear it played by Notre Dame was an entirely different experience. My friends and I had chills during the performance” shared Senior, Timothy Ledwon about his experience.

In turn the BGHS Band was also invited down to the field to perform the well renowned Fight Song with the Notre Dame marching band; creating a moment that shone a light on Bishop Gorman’s core values  “It was really cool to be able to feel the music because of how loud they were. It was also really awesome to get to conduct the entire Notre Dame band,” Senior Miranda Romero highlights.

The Bishop Gorman Band  is a major asset to the Bishop Gorman community, performing the traditional Bishop Gorman fight song played at every game and rally. The students strive to be  an impactful band that can energize students and faculty. “Being the only band with under 40 kids in the valley has put a lot of pressure on us as performers.  I hope we can inspire other kids to join the band and we can establish a big, loud, and proud band program for future students.” Ledwon stated.
