Students gathered on Friday, September 30 in the Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel to honor those who lost their lives in the tragic shooting on October 1, 2017. Over 60 students came to mass including all members of the Bishop Gorman ASG and the Bishop Gorman cheer team.

The service started around 7:15 am with a procession of flowers, one for each victim who lost their life in the infamous Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting. The flowers were brought up to the altar to serve as a memorial and grievances during the mass. “The most impactful part of mass was when everybody was waiting and we were gathered outside the chapel, and we all walked in and held a little vase and we walked to the altar and presented it; it really was a beautiful moment,” shared senior, Alyssa Gonzaga.

Following the mass was a prayer service in the Bishop Gorman Grotto where even more people joined in a special prayer to honor those who had fallen. Fifty eight students carried out their flowers once again, and presented them under the pictures of the deceased victims. The service ended with an emotional moment of silence. “Since it’s a real thing that happened in our community, it really strengthened all of us and brought us all together,” stated sophomore, Sutton Stoft.
