The “Summerlin Festival of Arts” took place from October 8th through October 9th and it was bursting with creativity!

The annual Summerlin Festival of Arts is in its 26th year and took place at Downtown Summerlin.

The festival was filled with many artists, booths, interactive activities, and so much more. Bishop Gorman had the opportunity to have various students’ artwork represented at the festival.  Drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, digital photography, and illustration were all represented by student demonstrations.  Paris Sotelo, a senior at Bishop Gorman, was demonstrating painting at the festival, “it’s a really fun and engaging way for people to get an inside look into Bishop Gorman’s art programs.”

Throughout the weekend, many students demonstrated their skills and showed many interested individuals in the art community about what Bishop Gorman has to offer in terms of the arts.  Sanaa Giffon, a junior at Bishop Gorman, was at the festival representing the BGHS Ceramics Club, “I liked how I was able to let people see what our Ceramics Club is all about and how fun it really is.”

Miss Hall, a ceramics teacher at Bishop Gorman, encouraged students to display their artwork at the festival. Without her time and dedication, Bishop Gorman would not have had a presence at the festival this year. To say it was a success is an understatement. Many people loved seeing the student entries and the students, in turn, loved volunteering at the event. It was a creative weekend for everyone!
