In the gym on Wednesday, October 22 crowds gathered to celebrate the women’s volleyball team’s senior night.
Luana Hoapili ‘26, Ellie Prindl ‘26, Trinity Thompson ‘26, Ayanna Watson ‘26, and Charlie Wilson ‘26 were honored in a night full of fun, laughter, and reflection as they looked back on their four memorable years at Gorman. The celebration began with a traditional senior lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, where the girls reminisced about high school memories and shared favorite stories. Wilson recalled, “my favorite memory has to be the time we were in Hawaii, spending the day at the beach and swimming in the ocean. It was so much fun and felt like a true bonding experience.”
Returning to the gym, the seniors were greeted with balloons, flowers, posters, and proud parents, all excited to witness the culmination of their final high school season.
Before the game, each senior took the spotlight, walking across the gym and sharing their plans for the future. Prindl said, “my family was super sad and happy for me. They were sad because it’s my senior night and my last year, but also so proud of how far I’ve come.”
Once the game began, the seniors were announced in the starting lineup, ready to take on Foothill and leave everything on the court. The team dominated the first set, winning 25-13 with powerful aces from Luana Hoapili and impressive blocks from Charlie Wilson. Set two mirrored their dominance, 25-13, thanks to setter dumps from Thompson and precise slide attacks from middle blocker Prindl. In the third set, they sealed a 25-16 victory, with Watson making incredible digs and hustling for every ball. With a 3-0 win and an undefeated record in Nevada, the Lady Gales capped their senior night in spectacular fashion.
After the match, the seniors shared a heartfelt moment with their families, receiving flowers and leis while soaking in the love and support surrounding them.
Hoapili said, “tons of my family and friends came to support me, and I was overwhelmed with joy. Seeing my family cry tears of happiness made me want to cry too.”
