On Oct. 4 and 5, the Virgin Hotel was filled with cowboy boots and glitter for country artist, Megan Moroney, who played two sold out shows as part of her “Am I Ok? Tour.”
Her fans, the ‘emo cowgirls’, had lines wrapped around the entire hotel.
Her personality creates a girly and positive atmosphere, which in turn creates a comforting environment for her fans. Cate Luther ‘26 agreed that, “the overall atmosphere was just so fun because to be in a place where everyone knew her songs felt so awesome and the environment was such a vibe.”
Her songs are relatable to many teenagers as they cover topics such as breakups, friendships, and loving yourself as well as others. She speaks and writes from the heart, making everyone feel connected to her songs. Xander Manasco ‘26 feels that, “she is a really good writer and a great performer overall.”
The night began with Solon Holt as the opener. About 20 minutes later, the lights dimmed and that’s when everyone knew it was time. Starting off the concert, she sang a version of her song “Man On The Moon”. This upbeat song set the tone for the rest of the night.
She also sang songs from her debut album, “Lucky”, as well as other surprise songs that fans voted for before the concert. Tears filled the room as she played the song “Girl in the Mirror”, which expresses the idea that you have to love yourself more than anyone else. Luther found herself getting emotional being able to hear the song live.
These ideas of self confidence were also shown through the tradition, which she started for the tour, where every show she crowns a “Miss Am I Ok Tour”, during her song “Miss Universe”. When the young girl walks on stage she hands her a bouquet of blue flowers and introduces her to the audience. Just like a pageant, she asks the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” No matter the answer, she tells the girl that she is smart, beautiful, and can do anything she sets her mind to. Although speaking directly to the young girl, her message is for everyone.
She took every opportunity she got to express her gratitude for all of the support she has gotten over the years. The night ended with confetti and cheers as she played the song, “Am I Ok?”. Everyone left with merch, confetti, videos, and smiles to last a lifetime.
