Victoria Offley 26’ launched Hands United, a nonprofit committed to bringing awareness and support to underrepresented issues in our community.
Inspired by the required Bishop Gorman service hours, Offley began Hands United for the less recognized marginalized communities in the Las Vegas Valley. “It showed me just how much help they need, but also made me aware of how much support they lack,” stated Offley. Her passion for helping those in need is really what drove her to want to take the next step to create an organization dedicated to helping out underdeveloped communities.
Launching this summer, Hands United has spent years in the making. She began developing this concept freshman year because the, plan took a little while to complete as she had to gather funds and establish this nonprofit officially as a 501c3.
The main goal of Hands United is to bring awareness, aid, and support to underserved communities in Nevada, while also reaching beyond state borders. It has already partnered with Feed Africa which was a major goal that they have accomplished this year.
Offley’s duty of running this nonprofit does in fact come with various challenges. She had to build a team as well as secure venues for fundraisers which was very challenging at times. “What helped me through these challenges were my ambassadors, team, partners, and friends,” Offley said.
For Offley, the most rewarding part of being Hands United’s founder is the difference it makes in people’s lives. “There is nothing better in the world than helping someone in need and seeing the joy and relief when they get the help they need,” said Offley.
