This year, Bishop Gorman High School is excited to welcome Ms. Puliz to its theology department, where she brings a strong passion for sharing and exploring the Catholic faith with students.
Ms. Puliz is a Bishop Gorman alumni and always attended Catholic schools, which helped build her faith and influence her own journey into the Catholic religion. She taught theology at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School and she had always hoped to be able to teach theology at the school she grew up in. Bishop Gorman has made that a reality.
“It’s always been my dream to be a teacher here at Bishop Gorman, specifically theology, so it felt like the right time to move over,” Ms. Puliz said, “I had a lot of theology teachers at Bishop Gorman that influenced me and I wanted to do the same for the students here.”
Her faith has played a big role in her life, influencing her teaching style and how she makes her students feel in her classroom.
“My faith is a big part of who I am, it shapes everything I do,” Ms. Puliz said, “I see all my students as Children of God so I try to treat them with respect that I hope they feel even if it’s just knowing their names or making them feel welcomed no matter where they are in their journey with faith.”
The students here at Bishop Gorman have also been very welcoming to her and share their own personal opinions and first impressions about her. Milania Gaddis ‘28 said, “[Ms Puliz] was standing outside of her door and greeting everyone who walked into her classroom.” She continued, “I could tell she really wanted to get to know us and make us feel comfortable and respected in her class.”
Since faith is a big part of who she is, Ms. Puliz likes to read scripture verses and pay close attention to those that may be especially meaningful to her.
“I really like Jeremiah 29:11, the plans I have for you are plans of good and truth and peace,” Ms. Puliz said, “one that I also really like is Mathew 28:19 where it says, ‘go out into the world and spread the good news.’”
Ms. Puliz is a great addition to the Bishop Gorman community who is helping her students learn more about their faith.
