Bishop Gorman class of 2029 attended their first high school dance at the annual Freshmen Aloha Dance that took place on Friday, Aug. 15.
Reece Miller ‘29 said that he, “thought the dance was super fun and there was a lot of high energy, and it was a great way for me to get to know people because we were able to mingle outside in the gym, then go dance inside the aux gym together.” He also said “the photo booth that they had was fun to take pictures with and have memories of our first dance.”
Many of the freshmen came out and socialized with each other while meeting many new people from their class. The actual dance itself took place in the aux gym, and in the main gym there were plenty of activities like basketball, cornhole, and even ice cream was served for a sweet treat.
One of the students who attended, Jonathan Budin ‘29, said, “I mostly just met some new people through my friends from my middle school, and I played sports with them, and it was good because we all danced with new friends too.”
Although there was lots of dancing, people noticed that at first it was hard to get everyone together to dance. However, as the night continued, the ASG students encouraged the freshman to go into the aux gym and enjoy the music with the DJ. By the end of the night, it seemed like everyone was satisfied with the dance, and had a good time.
School Treasurer Tyler Protel ‘26 says that he “had a blast, and it was such a great night for the freshmen.” He continues, “it was my first time attending the freshmen dance while not being a freshmen, and it was awesome to see the full circle of how that used to be us.”
