A lot of people do different things in the summer, some travel the world, others go camping, and others do picnics. Summer isn’t about what you do, it’s how you spend it.
Summer break is the thing students look forward to from the beginning of the school year. Summer is about recharging and relaxing and different people recharge and relax in different ways which is what is unique about everyone.
One of the many things that people love to do during summer are trips whether it’s for a sport or vacation, students love to go all across the world.
Sophomore Ava Bengochea talked about her summer plans mentioned “I’m staying busy with a lot of dance and cheer practices and trips coming up such as a cruise going to Cabo, Palm Springs, CA, and Zyon in UT for a retreat”.
“I’ll be in Europe visiting my family and friends and hopefully go to this one concert I really want to go to” David Ensign 27’ said.
Sophia Tevevaugh ‘28 goes somewhere new with her family every year, “I’m going to be in Macedonia for a month and I just know it’s going to be so much fun,”.
Another common thing students love to do during summer is play sports especially when you don’t have the stress of homework and assignments.
A lot of students here at Bishop Gorman are going to be traveling the country for tournaments including Georgia, California and Arizona.
Iolana Reilly ‘27 will be traveling to California for a series of many soccer tournaments. “Those tournaments are always really fun with my friends and teammates” said Reilly. Adding on, she’ll be going to Hawaii and spend some of her summer there.
Ilan Nikolov ‘27 and Tyler Johnson ‘27 mentioned in an interview that they want to win the biggest AAU tournament there is, which is “Peach Jam” that is held in Georgia. “I wish to pick up some offers from great schools,” Johnson 27’said. “Adding to what Ty said, I also want to plan on going on visits” Nikolov ‘27 added.
“I just plan to go to the gym a lot more and really focus on my sport,” Reilly, 27′ said.
Sophia also added how she wanted to get into running more since she feels like it’ll help her a lot in her sport.
Speaking of getting into new things…
Nikolov is feeling really enthusiastic about trying to learn how to sing and be great at it.
Johnson also added “I’m going to try and join a pickleball league with my dad and win MVP”.
Summer is about having fun but it’s also about growing as a person, developing good habits for the future and goals.
Just like Iolana Reilly and Sophia Tevevaugh mentioned before, their goals are to get in the gym more.
David Ensign has one major goal this upcoming summer which is to make the MLS Next Flex Cut team he said.
Bengochea also added that she wishes to take cheer and dance more seriously to really be passionate about it.
Lastly, Tevevaugh added that she wants to get better at basketball and just do great in all her tournaments this summer.
Everyone is doing different and unique things but most importantly they’re all having fun and enjoying their time off from the stress that comes with school.
Have a great summer break everyone!!!
