On March 25, the Teen Empowerment Club created bracelets with motivational words to help focus on their energies and achieve their goals in the student union.
With the help of Ms. Cross, the club was able to come up with the idea of making friendship bracelets for their Valentines themed meeting. All club members got the chance to put different words that they personally felt were most important and influential to them.
“Personally, I chose the word “reset” cause sometimes I need a time to start over and not over complicate things in my life,” Megrit Mediana ‘25 said, “sometimes simple words help to spark a deeper meaning and help you to do better.” She then explained that the word “reset” helps her mental health and makes her realize that nothing is ever that serious. It also helps her take a minute to focus on herself and not drown herself in materialistic items.
These bracelets aren’t only limited to those who made them, but also to the people surrounding them. Just seeing a person wearing a bracelet with the word “reset” or “love” can help people calm down and relax.
“These bracelets have the power to inspire people outside the club because anytime someone sees or wears one; it will be a reminder that they are not alone,” Katie Segler ‘25 said, “if I were to make a bracelet for someone I would chose the word love to remind them that someone who love them is always there.”
Not only did these bracelets teach the students to focus on themselves and their energy, but how to not get distracted by the little things that don’t matter. “I learned that it is so easy to get distracted by things that don’t matter,” Mediana said, “something as simple as a bracelet with a universal word can help us take a step back and realize the importance of life.”
