Associated Student Government (ASG) helps make the Bishop Gorman community thrive. From assemblies to dress up days, ASG is always working to fill the campus with school spirit.
ASG members play a major role in all of the fun activities and welcoming environment that Bishop Gorman has to offer. “So much of what I do is for others—making sure people feel included, cared for, and proud of their time here,” said Sophomore President Aikus Chadha ‘27.
Unfortunately, a lot of that hard work and dedication goes unnoticed. Averie Smith ‘25 stated, “I think most people don’t realize how much of a time commitment it is.” Additionally, Smith mentioned early morning meetings, poster hanging, leadership conferences, training, and so much more that club entails.
According to Chadha, however, “It’s not just planning and speaking—it’s constantly thinking about others, making tough calls, and quietly stepping up even when no one’s watching”
About a month ago, Student Leadership Appreciation Week was held, giving ASG students the recognition they deserve. “I feel as though this week is validating all of our work,” Smith said. Similarly, Chadha feels that “being recognized makes me pause and realize that the effort is being felt, and that’s a really powerful thing.”
Overall, ASG does a lot for the Bishop Gorman student body. Student Leadership Appreciation Week is a great way to admire their dedication, but that admiration should be spread out through the whole school year with a few simple words of kindness. “The most meaningful kind of appreciation is when someone tells me they felt seen, welcomed, or like they truly belonged,” Chadha continued, “that’s when I know we’re creating something special.”
