Bishop Gorman’s 2025 Mama Mia prom dance took place May 3 at the Durango Hotel.
With the food and aesthetic of the dance, the ballroom was transformed into the perfect Greek paradise. There were mini baklava cheesecakes for dessert, and the room was complete with a swing and sign that read “Mama Mia.” Riley Hermenegildo ‘26 said, “the decorations made the room feel more like the Mama Mia theme.”
Almost all the students spent most of their time on the dance floor. Sofia Conte ‘26 said, “my most memorable moment was dancing…with my friends.”
The music selections put students in the right mood to dance, and Victoria Whidden ‘26 shared that she was looking forward to guessing what the next song or mash up would be.
Near the end of the dance, the prom king and queen were announced. After amazing skits from everyone on court, Sutton McVeigh ‘26 and Cooper Macalalad ‘26 were crowned. Lily Simmons ‘26, “I was so happy for Cooper being crowned since I’ve had class with him since my freshman year.”
After the crowning, couples gathered on the dance floor to join the king and queen for a few slow dances. Riev Manozca-Angeles ‘26 said, “It was nice to see everyone dancing gracefully, and I felt that this moment was a nice time to feel relaxed after the other parts of the dance.”
Overall, this night was special for the upperclassmen. Whether it was their final dance, or their first prom, this night was a great way to commemorate the end of this school year. “The atmosphere was also very tight knit and there was a sense of community with the tables being close to each other and everyone being able to dance together.”
