Spring Break is just around the corner and it is not too late to pack your bags and enjoy your time off. Let’s take a look at the most popular spring break spots.
Some Bishop Gorman Gaels are staying inside the country and still finding a relaxing place to unwind. Hawaii is a great place to consider to get some sun and sand. The Aloha state offers so much to do. Whether you are interested in the outdoors and hiking through active volcanoes on the Big Island, snorkeling in the Pacific Ocean, or just enjoying your time on the beach, Hawaii could be the perfect destination this spring break. Sofia Chase ‘25 said, “I’m looking forward to going somewhere warm and getting a tan.” While it is a little last minute to plan a trip to Hawaii, the Golden State has much to offer too.
The most popular place for students to travel to is Newport Beach in California. Only about a four and a half hour drive will get you to Southern California. Renting a house along the beach and spending the week by the water is super popular among all grades. Ryan Cambiero ‘28 said, “It is not overrated, people just need to experience it in the right way, you need to have fun and explore.”
Even though Newport is the most popular spot to go, a lot of students think it is also the most overrated spring break destination. Camilla Drenen ‘25 said, “There is a ton of tourism and Newport is the go to spot.” Additionally, since spring break is in mid March, the weather in Southern California is typically cloudy and overcast. Chase said, “It is usually not warm, and there are always a lot of people from Gorman.”
Certain seniors are taking advantage of this week off of school and taking trips to visit colleges. Second semester seniors can only have three absences per class, any more than three absences and seniors would have to take a final exam for each respective class. This week off is a great time to check out prospective colleges without having to worry about taking finals.
If you are not going out of town do not fret. There is still plenty to do here in Las Vegas. From the strip all the way to Red Rock, there are tons of things to do locally. Some ideas are checking out Area 15 and Omega Mart, indoor go-kart racing at K1 Speed, or going to GlowZone for mini golf and laser tag. Even off the strip there is so much here in town to do.
If you are looking for a quick day trip, only an hour drive from Las Vegas gets you to Lee Canyon. Currently Lee Canyon is experiencing heavy snow fall so it is the perfect time to get out there. You can rent skis for as little as $20 and a single day lift ticket for $60. This is a great opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy your spring break.
