Popular influencer Spencer Barbosa has set herself apart as a champion of self-love for women through her social media career and overall message, through her content and products.
It’s no secret that Barbosa, known for her presence on TikTok and Instagram, has played a significant role in helping women recognize their own beauty. Kahlen DuFrene ‘25 said “Her content impacted me personally with my self confidence and how I view myself, both physically and mentally.”
Barbosa has been able to spread her positive attitude to millions of people through her social media platforms, most notably on TikTok, where she has amassed 10.8 million followers as of March 2025. Skylar Haddad ‘25 said “I learned who Spencer was a while ago when she popped up on my For You page.”
Barbosa is not just any influencer. In an era that places the traditional beauty standards on a pedestal, she embraces her own unique look, choosing not to play into a toxic standard. Unlike the average influencer, she exudes confidence and authenticity, which is infectious to her followers. DuFrene shared, “While others I feel focus on eating healthy, working out, and changing your lifestyle—which is all really good—Spencer’s content focuses more on loving the life that you were giving and not changing it.”
Barbosa has been active for over 10 years on social media, growing her brand from simple vlogs to one of the most popular self-love pages. Today, she is still actively promoting body positivity through her own life, as seen in her Tik Toks relating to her days, routines, and even her relationship. Haddad stated, “Her goal is to empower women to become more comfortable in their own skin, rather than promoting ways for women to change.”
Earlier this month, Barbosa announced that her new self-love focused show “Flawed,” will be released this April. Recently, she partnered with Hollister to create a line of bikinis, called The Beach Shop x Spencer Barbosa. In this campaign, she models her own styles in the advertisements and on the website in order to further stand by her message of body positivity. DuFrene notes, “She is an influencer that doesn’t post constant workout videos, but her life of being a model and content that preaches self-love.”
Since authenticity, body positivity, and self-love are attributes that are needed now more than ever,Barbosa is a perfect example of a woman who deserves to be honored for Women’s History Month. Her content, products, and overall message have significantly changed many women’s lives for the better, helping to promote women’s confidence in themselves and their peers.
