Bishop Gorman’s House of Glory was filled with celebration, memories, and the send-off of Dance, Pom, and Cheer seniors at the Senior Night basketball game last Thursday, February 6.
Complete with a high-energy game, it was a night to honor the hard work, passion, and friendship that these seniors poured into their high school teams. Before the game started and during halftime, the girls walked out into the gym with family members on each arm, surrounded by love from their teammates.
“I just loved the overall atmosphere of being around those that have cared for me all these years,” Jaila-Ann DelaLana ’25 said. “I felt so loved and blessed.” As she stood between various personalized posters, flowers, and sashes, each team did not fail to show their support for their seniors.
Besides the uplifting environment of Senior Night, many girls were conflicted with their last year of high school slipping away so fast. “To be a senior feels like you’re in a water slide completely in the dark,” DelaLana said. “There are multiple twists, turns, and dips, and you have no idea where you’re ending up or where it even ends.”
No matter what, every senior can agree that the worst part is being forced to leave behind team relationships that have been built up since the beginning of freshman year. Juliet Lefebvre ‘25 said, “I will definitely miss the girls the most, we get along really well and everyone on the team is so amazing.”
DelaLana added, “I have such a unique bond with every one of [my teammates], and I will miss caring for such a big group of girls as special as them.”
Dance, Pom, and Cheer seniors were met with endless support throughout the bittersweet night that marked the beginning of the end of their senior seasons. “No matter what, I know I can’t turn back time and I’m going to keep moving forward,” Lefebvre ‘25 said. “I’m endlessly grateful for the numerous memories and moments that this team has provided me with.”
