A new opportunity arises for Bishop Gorman students, starting with the class of 2026.
The new early graduation program allows students to graduate a semester early. Students can apply for early graduation for an academic program or an athletic program and will need to supply a clear outline of the program to be considered for early graduation.
Students are required to apply for early graduation before the end of their first semester of junior year. While this is a huge opportunity for some students, there are some criteria that must be met in order to graduate early. Students must have at least a 2.5 weighted GPA and cannot have any F’s on their transcripts.
Along with the GPA requirement students are still required to meet graduation requirements. In order to graduate early students must have all 28 credits, Christian service hours complete, and theological reflections. For the athletes, they must be on track for NCAA eligibility. Additionally, students are still responsible for the full tuition of their senior year.
So what is changing? Prior to this new policy, Bishop Gorman athletes had to unenroll from Gorman and finish their high school career online if they wanted to graduate early. This was to allow them to start training with their respective college.
“Now we can get a Bishop Gorman diploma and have the opportunity to walk the stage at graduation,” Prince Williams ‘26 said. Williams is one of the first students to take advantage of this new policy and graduate a semester early.
Students must meet all of the requirements in order to graduate early. All applications must be submitted before the end of the first semester of junior year. The principal, Mr. Goode will make the final decision, approving or denying early graduation.
This new opportunity allows students to reach their full potential and further their careers, whether for academic opportunities or for athletics. For more information, families can find the extent of the new policies and procedures attached via the link below.
