January 10, Bishop Gorman’s student government, ASG, headed for the annual Disneyland Leadership Conference. Upon their return, those who attended share what they learned during workshops with all of ASG to use for future Bishop Gorman activities on campus.
Sophomore class president, Aikus Chadha ‘27 was impacted by the material taught at the conference. “I was taught to collaborate and constantly communicate with my diverse team in every situation by actively listening to them and leading them towards success.” Chadha ‘27 continued, “I can use those skills to lead my sophomore class as President as well as any more groups that we have in ASG now and in the future to complete the task successfully and efficiently like a good team.”
Freshman Brayden Hartsell ‘28 shared his takeaways from the workshops, “our teamwork will improve and become better, allowing us to work better on future projects and establish better relationships.”
On top of the information taught, the location of the conference is a great addition to the experience. Lucia Mazzara ‘25, a current senior at Bishop Gorman and a member of ASG since her freshman year, believes that “being in the happiest place on earth with my closest friends made the entire experience the best.” Also, Mazzara ‘25 states that “every single year I come back from this trip, I leave with friendships that I didn’t have walking into, and I think part of it is due to the magic of Disney.”
This trip is a great opportunity for those in ASG to better their knowledge in leading a group to success. Alongside the fun environment Disneyland is able to bring, they were able to learn the importance of being a part of a team and what it’s like to be a good leader. They learned ways to bring in some new and fresh leadership skills to the student government at Bishop Gorman to improve the ideas that are incorporated into the school overall, and were able to create bittersweet memories with those around them to really create special memories together.
