Girls Basketball has been doing great this winter season. The Lady Gaels have had a variety of games.
Starting winter break off strong the Lady Gaels had a Las Vegas Classic tournament which was hosted by Bishop Gorman High School on Dec. 27- 30, 2024. This tournament consisted of local and out of state teams coming from CA, UT, AZ, CO, and NM.
On Dec. 27, 2024 the Lady Gaels took on Paradise Honors from Arizona and won by an outstanding amount of points, beating them 65-20.
That wasn’t their only major win, the next couple games the Gaels beat their opponents by more than 25 points.
On Dec. 28, 2024 the Lady Gaels played Portola from CA beating them by 65-29.
Then later that same day they beat Virgin Valley from Mesquite which they also won 70-45.
A day later on Dec. 30, 2024 was the championship game playing Salpointe Catholic from AZ.
This game was one of the closest games all tournament since the Lady Gaels were only up by six points 30-24 at halftime.
“I feel like the team played well together which is why we got that lead in the 3rd quarter early”, Mirandah Buch ’25.
With working together they managed to pull off a win, 63-56.
The Lady Gaels ended the 2024 year off strong, winning a championship at home.
“We played with each other and not for ourselves which is why we won”, Buch.
After this tournament is when games start getting serious since the upcoming games will help them place for playoffs and will help them in standings.
On Mon., Jan. 6, starting off the 2025 year strong playing Faith Lutheran High School at home, the Lady Gaels defeated them with a score of 66-36
Then on Fri. Jan. 10, girls basketball went to Shadow Ridge and demolished the Mustangs with a score of 65-35. A key contributor to this game was Senior forward Tiera Bell, getting great defense and offensive rebounds.
“ I feel like when I get rebounds it just lights the energy of our team more, which is what we need”, Bell 25’.
Unfortunately on Sat. Jan. 11, the Gaels fell short to Centennial with a score of 41-39.
This was a huge game for the Gaels since Centennial will be their rivals again this 2024-2025 season. Having beat them in the State Finals, Centennial is out for revenge, but so are the Gaels after this loss. Their rematch game will be Feb 21, 2025 at the state final.

However, they have a redemption home game against Las Vegas High School on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
They beat Las Vegas High School with a score of 58-10.
The Gaels have quite a break playing Coronado High School on Monday Jan 20, 2025 at 12pm.
