With Christmas right around the corner, students everywhere are refining their wish lists, making sure they know exactly what’s trending this Christmas season from the latest tech gadgets to must-have fashion items. Whether teens are turning to social media or to their best friends for ideas, the question remains the same for gift givers and wish list-makers throughout the holiday seasons: What are the most popular items everyone is asking for?
Talk of what students are wanting for Christmas has been floating around the halls of Bishop Gorman this past week, and Uggs have been one of the hottest topics. Katheryn Segler ‘25 stated, “Ultra mini Uggs are at the top of my list this year. I think they are so cute.”
But it’s not just the Class of 2025 that adores these shoes. Kavya Gururaj ‘27 added, “I can wear Uggs with my school pants, and would get tons of use out of them.”
Besides cute boots, high schoolers are always wanting the newest tech.
“An iPhone 16 would be my ideal Christmas gift of the year,” Markie Modaffara ‘26 told The Lance.
“My favorite gift I’ve gotten by far was the MacBook I got a few years ago, it’s still the best item I own,” Henry White ‘28 noted.
When asked what Christmas gift has been the best they’ve ever received, many did not hesitate to bring up a big trip. “A surprise trip to Italy from a few years ago is something I still think about to this day,” Segler said. She continued by saying that it was better than any item she could’ve received, and something she would remember forever. White added that his Disney trip he was gifted for Christmas last year couldn’t be topped.
Every kid finds themselves putting together a wish list during the holiday season. But how much effort do teenagers really put into these lists? According to Modaffara, “I’ll usually just use the Notes app to jot down some ideas for my family. It’s the best way to go, that way it doesn’t take up too much of my time.” However, Segler gave a completely different response, “I love putting effort into my lists. I like to make PowerPoints or slideshows that I send to friends and family,” she said, “This allows me to really think about what I want on my list.”
