Caleb Kim ‘27’s ‘Fear The G’ hoodie hit the racks and sold out in nine days, leaving students wanting more.
Earlier this month, Kim released his own design in the student store. While this specific hoodie will most likely not be restocked, Kim is continuing to work closely with Mrs. Michelle Roberts and the Bishop Gorman campus store to drop more exclusive merchandise.
Kim has been designing clothing since the eighth grade. Since then he has begun developing his own clothing brand, The Only Way. Kim draws inspiration from fashion trends from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Vintage lettering and oversized appearances are a common theme throughout his designs. However, his art’s main goal is to praise God.
The inspiration behind Kim’s clothing brand is his faith and love of the Lord. “God plays a humongous role in my passion. When I was younger I designed clothes for fun, and then I found God over the summer, so now I want to influence Jesus Christ into my clothing pieces and continue to grow.”
The Only Way is more than just a business – it is a mission – a mission to teach and spread the gospel.
“To get to know Caleb and know his love for the Lord, knowing that through that passion, he’s creating a brand is mind-blowing,” Mrs. Roberts said. She emphasized her awe for Kim and his determination at such a young age and how great it was to work with someone who has a similar passion for fashion.
Kim’s goal goes beyond creating trendy pieces. “Overall, my goal is just to evangelize the word of God through the pieces of garments so everyone can come together in fellowship.” Bishop Gorman students can rest assured knowing that there is much more to come from Kim and the student store in the future.
