No. 5 Bishop Gorman varsity football prepares for their 2024 Homecoming football game this Friday night at Fertitta Field against the Basic High School’s Wolves.
The last time the Wolves and Gaels went face to face was in 2018 when the Gaels were in total control of the game with a final score of 70-7. Bishop Gorman plans to repeat what took place in that game, but it might be different this year. Basic has just freshly come out with a win against Foothill putting their record 2-6, but will this be enough to take down the 2023 national champions?
Bishop Gorman has had an impressive 6-1 overall record with their only loss being against No. 1 Mater Dei back in early September. That loss has only motivated them more. Last Thursday, Bishop Gorman traveled to Arbor View to show up and show out with a final score of 49-14. Defensive Back, Alex Perez ‘25 said, “I feel like that’s the standard we hold to ourselves. We should beat these teams by that much”.
With a 5A Division I record of 3-0, Bishop Gorman varsity football has put themselves in a familiar position with these high scoring games and have now won five games by 26 points or more and they plan to do the usual against the Wolves. Quarterback Melvin Spicer IV ‘25 said, “we prepare for every opponent the same way no matter the division”.
