On August 22nd, the number two ranked Bishop Gorman’s women’s varsity soccer team took a devastating loss against their season’s biggest opponent, number one ranked Faith Lutheran. The 4-1 loss at Faith Lutheran’s field was hard to face after being undefeated in South Lake Tahoe’s tournament earlier this summer.
With a tough start to the season, player Valentina Moore ‘25, says that the team plans to “learn from this loss by studying the way my opponents play and expect the unexpected.” With the next week of practice Gorman plans to work on “taking shots from further out as well as stringing more passes to get the other team out of position.”
Gorman’s women also agree that by working on their chemistry together, they will form a bond both on and off the field during practice to secure a win in their next two league games against Arbor View and Liberty.
This loss also gives the team the motivation, drive, and knowledge to take down Faith Lutheran in their next match up on September 26th.
Bishop Gorman’s goals this season are to achieve a spot in the State Championship and win a State Title.
