BGHS class of 2028 attended their first high school dance at the annual Freshmen Aloha Dance that took place on Friday, August 23rd.
Mya Patel ‘28 says that she “thought the dance was really fun and super high-spirited, and it was a great opportunity for me to get to know people.”
Several freshmen came out and socialized with each other while meeting many new people from their class. The actual dance itself took place in the aux gym, and in the main gym there were plenty of activities like basketball, cornhole, and even ice cream.
One of the students who attended, Bella Cicchetti ‘28, said “I mostly met new people and danced with friends.”
Although there was lots of dancing, people noticed that at first it was hard to get everyone together to dance, which caused some awkwardness.
Akinleye Akinwumiju ‘28 “enjoyed that there was basketball,” but he felt as if “there were people either playing basketball or at the dance, but everyone else sort of just sat around doing nothing.”
However, as the night continued, the ASG students encouraged the freshman to go into the aux gym and enjoy the music with the DJ. By the end of the night, it seemed like everyone was satisfied with the dance, and had a good time.
