Bishop Gorman hosted an exciting start to the school year with the first school mass, centered around the Assumption of Mary.
“I wanted [the students] to feel welcome to worship God,” stated Father Jacob about his liturgy during last Thursday’s Mass. He wanted to “open their hearts and see what they think and feel.”
Father Jacob welcomed the Bishop Gorman student body back to campus and introduced the freshmen to the school community through the celebration of the mass.
“I felt really inspired and his words were just really emotional and moving,” said Brianna Grove ‘28. This mass was Grove’s first introduction to what mass really is, stating that she “got to learn about Catholicism and how mass works.”
This mass was centered around Mary. Elaborating on why Mary is so important, Father Jacob stated that you have to think about “what kind of woman could contain God in her womb?”
Grove expressed that this mass taught her “who Mary was, her importance as the mother of Jesus, and what she meant to Catholics.”
Bishop Gorman Campus Ministry will celebrate all-school masses like this one once a month throughout the school year. Mass is also celebrated throughout the week in the chapel. See below a full schedule of mass days and times
