Morgan Wallen came to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for two nights, August 8th and 9th, on his One Night At A Time Tour.
On the first night, the main opener was Jelly Roll, and Wallen got a good feel for Vegas, and the show was an overall success.
I got to attend the second show, which was amazing. After hearing how much fun some of my friends had at the Thursday show, I was feeling jealous, so my friend and I bought last minute tickets Friday afternoon.
Rushing to the show, we were given bright bracelets for a light show in the crowd. One attendee, Olivia Gayheart ‘27, shared, “Everyone was dressed with cowboy boots and hats.”
The main opener was Bailey Zimmerman on the night I attended, who is my favorite country artist. He did an amazing job exciting the crowd. Halfway through his set, he changed into a Raiders long sleeve, and was immediately booed by the crowd. He then threw his shirt into the audience and continued his set. This was a moment that showed the singer’s personality and comedic value. He later posted a video to his Instagram about the incident saying he was confused at first.
Reagan Millbern ‘26, who saw Zimmerman as the opener commented, “He was the most perfect pick for an opener. I purposely bought tickets to the Friday night concert to see the opener Bailey Zimmerman.”
My favorite song on that set was “Where it Ends.” I loved being able to see my favorite singer sing my favorite song to hype me up for the show ahead of me.
After Zimmerman, there was a short break before Wallen came on the stage, escorted by Mike Tyson and Tom Brady.
Anyone who has been to a Morgan Wallen concert knows this: he knows how to keep the crowd awake and attentive, and he did just that right from the start. Loren Brown ‘26, who went to the show with her twin Madelyn, shared, “The highlight of the concert for me was the opening.”
Technically speaking, the stage and lights production for this concert were very well done, and that was evident upon entrance. It added to the overall experience of the show by keeping those in attendance visually stimulated. He had props on the stage as well. One of them was bleachers, and the other was a replica of the outside of his grandmother’s house, and he performed in front of each.
Wallen’s success, and that of other rising country stars such as Megan Moroney and Zach Bryan, showed that the genre is definitely growing in popularity. As someone who grew up listening to country music, I found it surprising that so many people were rushing to get tickets to this show because I used to be one of the only people I knew who liked country music.
Madelyn Brown ‘26, who didn’t know much of his music before going to the show, shared an interesting perspective, “I think it definitely made me more of a Morgan Wallen fan. To see the stadium filled with so many people who love his music, it’s a neat experience that makes you appreciate what he does for the music industry.”
My favorite parts of the show were when he performed “Sunrise” and “Thinkin’ Bout Me.” Those are two of my favorite Morgan Wallen songs, and being able to sing them with my best friend at his show was an amazing experience, and a core memory that I will never forget.
The show felt too short, and before I knew it, it was over. Erica Kaffenberger ‘26 reminisced, “The whole thing felt like a movie.”
