On Wednesday January 17th, Bishop Gorman varsity football was presented a proclamation from the City of Las Vegas for all of their achievements as a nationally renowned program.
At 9:00 a.m. at the City Hall council meeting in downtown Las Vegas, city councilman and 1987 Bishop Gorman Alumni, Cedric Crear, hosted the men’s varsity football team to present them with the proclamation. The ceremony was held to commemorate the program for its winning season, following its most recent state championship in November which also secured their first national championship title since 2016.
The Gaels did not leave empty handed as they were awarded a city proclamation plaque, and also marked January 17th the official day for Bishop Gorman Varsity Football in the city of Las Vegas. A proclamation is only served by the city council to officially designate an event or day to a chosen organization or person.
Defensive back for the Gaels, Zyzaiah Duncan ‘24, stated how grateful he was for the opportunity to be presented this proclamation, “It’s just a team thing, the team was there and we all got to work together to earn this.”
