On January 17th, the men’s bowling team won their match against Clark High School with help from senior Eddie Yuen’s perfect 300 score.
When asked about his perfect game Yuen said, “I was nervous but also excited to be hitting a perfect game.” He continued, “My second to last shot was really lucky but the moment I got that break, I knew I was going to shoot 300.”
Bowling matches consist of three games with each game worth two points. Though, one team can win two games and still lose the match. Every match is based on pin count (how many pins you can hit overall in all three games). The girls are 0-7 matches and the boys are 1-6. Points wise girls have earned 4-59 because of winning two games. Boys are 19-44 because of winning 10 games and tying in two games against Shadow Ridge High School.
When coach Houston was asked about this year’s offseason preparation she stressed how hard the kids work. Working on their own due to the limited team practices, the amount of effort and focus it takes throughout the season often goes unnoticed.
The transition to 5A was “tough” according to coach Houston, but they have found a rhythm later in the season recently beating Arbor View and picking up other key wins.
