Women’s golf is back into full swing and the Gaels are off to a good start, winning 2 of their first 4 matches. After taking second place last year in state, the team looks to take home the title this year.
The team usually has 12 players on roster, but they are short-handed this year with only 10 players. They will travel a lot this year, with matches in Pahrump and a tournament in California.
Sydelle Ritorto ‘26 says that “the team is looking great this year, and we hope to win State this year.” She believes that the team has a very good chance of winning with the return of many great golfers in Moriah Wayman ‘25 and Alyson Wasserburger ‘26.
The team will tee off against many tough teams this year. One of those teams is defending State champion, Coronado. Alyson Wasserburger ‘26 says that “we have a good chance of winning our match against them this year.” She says the amount of practice rounds they played during the offseason will have a great impact on how they play this season.
The Gaels look forward to their first tournament on 9/18 in Walnut, California. They have been preparing all year and have also played many in-state matches to get them ready to compete.
