Coaching young athletes is a great way to give back to the community.

Here at Bishop Gorman, the football team hosts a flag football league called Next Level.

Next Level is a youth flag football league that Bishop Gorman holds annually. Next Level also holds annual leagues at Faith Lutheran It gives young athletes from first through eighth grade an opportunity to play football while being coached by members of the Bishop Gorman team. Each grade level has 4 teams and one team will be crowned as the winner at the end of the eight-week period.

Freshman Anton Gorup, who coaches 3rd grade Yellow, says that, “I feel like it’s a great opportunity to help these young kids feel what it is like to play football at Bishop Gorman.” He also says that it’s a great way to earn service hours for school as well as a fun way to bring up the next generation of young football players.

I was also a coach. It was very fun teaching these little kids who look up to my team and I. Although sometimes it is hard coaching these young players, it is our job to teach them the right way to do things. It’s a great way for these young athletes to know what it feels like to play at Bishop Gorman.
