Football summer “break”

Summer break is, for most, a time of fun, freedom, and relaxation, but for the Bishop Gorman Football Team, the term “break” is a controversial statement.

Under Head Coach Brent Browner, the Gaels have minimal days off, especially in the months of June and July. Practicing five days a week and participating in team camps, their success is unmatched.

“While everyone is sleeping, we’re out here working,” said Sophomore Defensive Lineman Sione Motuapuaka.

Dedication from the student-athletes on the football team provides a staple for sports across the country right here on Fertitta Field.

Junior Quarterback Micah Alejado has spent all 3 years at Bishop Gorman a part of the football team.

“The constant work that we put in creates separation from everyone else in the country,” Alejado remarked, “From the field, in the weight room, and watching film, by the time season comes around, we’re ready.”

The Gaels are known for having a tough out of state schedule, playing top teams from multiple states and in the nation.

The rigorous training schedule is a necessity. “In order to be the best, you need to beat the best,” emphasized Alejado. With a state championship goal each year, the team’s year round commitment is incomparable.

Highly anticipated matchups are soon to come next fall. Be on the lookout for the Gaels on Fertitta Field in the heat this summer.
