Bishop Gorman Track and Field has had an impressionable season with multiple highly placed athletes, making a strong run for state finals.

The team has been dominating this spring and the Gaels have their views set on greatness. Each week multiple athletes are hitting personal records with continuous improvement. With a state title in reach, the Bishop Gorman Track and Field squad know they cannot take their foot off the gas for the remainder of the season.  For these student-athletes, “having a good time” is extremely important because of its contagious effect to their peers. Relaxing and “just running” is a big component in the Gaels success thus far.

Sophomore Derek Meadows, is a name commonly seen on the leaderboards this year. His 6’6” frame makes a perfect body type for a track athlete, a sport he is all too familiar with from his father. Meadows discovered his passion for track at the age of six as he found out his father was a decathlete (participated in 10 events) and was an All-American. This inspired him to not only participate, but to be a leader as well.   Meadows, who’s most highlighted event is the 300 meter hurdles said, “hard work is the key to success,” he continued, “what you put in is what you get out. It’s a constant grind that we all put in as a team and it shows through our success.”

With a bright future ahead, the Gaels are making a strong push for the top track and field team in the state. They are hoping that their success continues for the remainder of the season.
