The “W” in Winter-Fest
After what seemed to be a dismal pep-rally on January 25, 2023, Gorman’s school spirit was proven to be at an all time low. However, this was soon turned around by the Marvelous Winterfest Assembly on February 17, 2023 where school pride was once again resurrected.
The assembly’s first activity truly showed the competitive nature of the Clash of the Classes when volunteers from all four classes got the chance to participate in a game of Tug-of-War.
“Before I even won, I was confident we were going to win,” claimed Jacob Maalouf ’24. Maalouf was the anchor of the junior team who came up victorious amongst the rest of the classes.
Tug-of-War was followed by a jam-packed routine from the varsity cheer squad and a mesmerizing performance from the Gorman Drum-Line.
The assembly concluded with a sing-off between all classes, filling the gym with sounds of Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen), Baby (Justin Beiber), and Riptide (Vance Joy). In this competition the juniors won again making them the winners of every competition during the assembly.
ASG members Maddy Stenson ’23 was emceeing along with Ethan Cavizo ’23. Stenson commented about her emceeing experience, “leading up to it I was nervous, but after the introductory part it was easy.”
