The Robotics Club at Bishop Gorman is a great way to learn new skills and have fun.
The club is open to all grades and offers an opportunity for those interested in engineering and robotics to explore their passion. It meets every other week where members gather to brainstorm, build, and program robots for competition.
“We have spent the year designing, building, and programming robots for the upcoming VEX V5 Spin Up competitions.”, stated co-president Madelyn Moore.

The members break up into teams and begin building and programming the robots. Once complete, the robots are tested and refined for the competition.

Moore explained, “We use VEX parts to build our robots from scratch and the VEX site to write our own code in C++. We also have access to tools such as bolt cutters, electric saws, and a laser cutter. I’m not sure about funding, but I know that we need to purchase new parts for every competition, and the money comes from the school or donations.”

The club also holds competitions throughout the school year for members to show off their robots. These competitions range from in-school to out-of-school events. The club has been lucky enough to attend the largest VEX competition in the city, and have made some great progress over the past year.

If you have been looking for a way to explore robotics and engineering in a fun and safe environment, the Robotics Club is the perfect place. With a new coach and plenty of opportunities to compete, it’s the perfect place to learn and have fun.
