Off to a smooth start: BGHS mens and women’s bowling state championship run

Carter Hardman bowls for men’s team

Bishop Gorman Bowling Team off to a strong start in their 2023 season. Both the men’s and women’s teams have played strong matches in a run for a state championship this year.

Team leader Micah Alejado, who you may know as the Nevada Gatorade Football Player of the Year, has undoubtedly made his name a contender for the bowler of the year as well. Currently, second in individual rankings and leading his team to first in overall team rankings, the lefty bowled a perfect 300 in their January 6th match up. Alejado, who enjoys his time in the bowling alley, says “concentration and staying relaxed” helped him achieve this feat and would like to do it again before the season is over. When asked what his plans are for the remainder of the season, Alejado hopes to lead his team to a state championship and add to the collection of hardware on the Bishop Gorman campus.

As for the women’s, a perfect game has not yet been bowled, but this does not stop them from trying to bring home a state championship. Like the men, women bowlers have been determined to stay focused and continue to perform in their remaining matches. Improvements are soon to come and there will be a sense of healthy competition between the men and women as they push each other for success.

Bowling season is well underway, and the Gaels’ run for the state title will be “one you won’t want to miss.”
